Spreading cheer on the
Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria Line

Lovers of real ale, good pubs and good food have something to celebrate this week when South Pennines Rail Partnership and Northern Rail launch the Huddersfield to Manchester Victoria line’s new Pub Guide.

The Guide lists in detail good pubs that are a short walk from stations along the line, giving details such as direction from the station, the facilities that the pub offers and details of the beers you are likely to find on sale.

The news gets even better, some participating pubs are offering a small discount to rail users if you can produce a valid rail ticket for that day.

The guide had been researched by members of the Penistone Line Partnership for the South Pennines Rail Partnership, whose coordinator Rowena Chantler said ‘the train is a great way to get out to some of the lovely pubs on the Manchester Victoria line without using the car. Many of the pubs also sell great food and many welcome children. So why not make it a family day out using the great value tickets that Northern Rail, the train operator offer.’

The Pub Guide is being launched at one of the pubs, the Stalybridge Station Buffet on Friday 9th May at 2pm and the guide is available on - line at www.southpenninesrail.co.uk and from staffed stations, tourist information centres and of course the pubs
