Aututmn 2008: Maintenance works in the Standedge and Bradway Tunnels will affect the Huddersfield Line and Penistone Line timetables.
The Huddersfield Line timetable is being reissued for the period from 8
September to 13 December 2008 to include the full service on Sundays
from 9 November with First TransPennine Express services diverted via
the Calder Valley due to the closure of Standedge tunnel. It includes a
Marsden - Manchester Victoria rail replacement local bus service
connecting into and out of Northern local trains at Marsden, provided by
First TransPennine Express on behalf of GMPTE, for which Metro has
produced the publicity.
The Hallam, Penistone, Pontefract, Wakefield, York & Selby Lines and
Leeds - Sheffield composite timetables are also being reissued for the
same period due to the effects of the closure of Bradway tunnel south of
Sheffield for the whole period for major engineering work. Long distance
trains from and to the south will use the route via Beighton arriving
and departing at the north end of Sheffield station where they will
reverse, affecting the timing of some local trains and causing some to
terminate at or start from Meadowhall.
The relevant timetables are available here for information and will be
available shortly on the Metro web site. The West Yorkshire Rail Network
book is also being reissued for the same period and updated to 8
September.
Huddersfield train times - 8th September to 13th December
Penistone train times - 8th September to 13th December
On Sundays 26 October and 2 November 2008 Penistone Line trains are due to be replaced by buses between Penistone and Sheffield due to work at Barnsley station. Click here for details
