You are invited to ‘take the train for a walk !’
Organised by the Penistone Line Partnership (PLP), these walks are promoted by the RAMBLERS’ ASSOCIATION to encourage use of the train service to visit some of South & West Yorkshire’s finest countryside. Walks also take place in North Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
Join us for an enjoyable day out - all are welcome!
Walks are free but fares apply.
Bring along a flask and sandwiches.
Suitable footwear and clothing are recommended. Walks are at an easy pace.
Health Note: Walking is good for you!
Regular walking can help improve your health and has been described as ‘most nearest to perfect exercise’
- it’s sociable and great fun too !

Join us for a pleasant, flattish walk around the area north of Worksop. Good field paths and quiet lanes take us to Carlton, Wallingwells and Woodsetts and along a short stretch of the Chesterfield Canal.

Saturday JUNE 5th 2010 - The Chase Is On !
Today's walk will take us across a couple of parks, Tankersley and Westwood, and past the location of a famous scene from a popular novel and film. We traverse Wharncliffe Chase now open permanently thanks to the campaign for open access by the Ramblers' Association. Woodland features heavily in the latter stages of the walk as we descend gradually down to journey's end in suburban Sheffield.

A repeat of last April’s walk but this time in the opposite direction! A varied route taking in Deffer Wood and crossing the border from South into West Yorkshire.
Opt out possible at Cannon Hall to catch a bus at Cawthorne.

Due to work on the line in January, we had to postpone this walk. A delightful circular walk on lanes, fieldpaths and a few roads in sight of Pool Hill from Denby Dale via Upper Cumberworth, High Flatts, Upper & Lower Denby, Bagden and the edge of Shat !

A linear walk through Honley, Netherthong and onto Holmfirth for a browse. Climb up to Newgate and Totties with a gentle descent to New Mill. Onwards we go via Stagwood Hill,
Hunger Hill, Ing Head and onto Stocksmoor station. A moderate walk with fine views but no Eiffel Tower!
