Caldervale Line:

Take part in the South Pennines Challenge (charity walk), there are 4 walks to choose from.

Littleborough
Meet Stuart at 11am at Littleborough Station for a 2.5 hour walk, which will incorporate Ealees, Hollingworth Lake, and associated industrial archaeology.


Huddersfield Line

Marsden
Visit the Highest, Longest and deepest Canal Tunnel in Britain and get a FREE hot drink with a valid rail ticket at Standedge Visitor Centre café.

Marsden
Meet Jean at 1pm at Marsden Railway Station for a family walk along the tops of the Colne Valley, to Slaithwaite Railway Station. A fantastic opportunity to see the Colne Valley from a different view point.

Stalybridge
Meet Bob at 11am at Stalybridge Railway Station for an historic walk along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to Greenfield Railway Station. Bob (from Huddersfield Canal Society) has recently completed and published a towpath guide for the canal. This is a unique opportunity, and places are limited. Penistone Line:

Sheffield
Explore the secluded Moss Valley, and enjoy its renowned display of spring flowers. Meet John at 9.50am for a guided 8 mile walk from the Sheffield Tram Stop at the rear of Sheffield Station.

Shepley
Shepley Spring Festival is an annual event that runs all weekend, with entertainment for all the family, including a beer festival, live performances, dance workshops and children’s activities. Tickets range from £4.00, more information FREE vintage bus link to Shepley Folk Festival site from Shepley Station at 35 minutes past the hour every hour from 10.35am to 4.35pm.

Honley
FREE bus from Honley Station to Castle Hill (Buses leave the station 40 minutes past the hour, and return back to the station on the hour. The first will be at 10.40, with the last bus returning at 4pm).

Penistone Line Pub Trail
Why not try out some of the pubs on the pub trail, and if you’re lucky you may see the Black Swan Rappers or Barnsley Longsword at some of the pubs or on the train!

Hebden Bridge
Meet Diana at 11am at the Coffee Station at Hebden Bridge Railway Station for a circular walk to discover the history of Hebden Bridge.

National Trust plant fair at Marsden A huge variety of plants, at the largest regional National Trust plant sale, available at this annual event held next to the Marsden Moor Estate Office. Only 2 minutes walk from Marsden Railway Station.
